What’s new in the Championship 2019/20?
It’s a sad goodbye to Rotherham, Bolton and Ipswich who all suffered heartache seasons and were relegated.
On the flip side – Luton and Barnsley have been promoted from League One. Along with Charlton, after a memorable first visit to the new Wembley.
While the newly promoted teams are not expected to play a significant role in the Championship this season, keep an eye on Charlton…if they keep full-back Anfernee Dijksteel. Their promising display at Wembley could be built upon.
At the other end of the table…
Norwich (Champions), Sheffield United and play-off winners Aston Villa have all reached the promised land of Premiership Football and premier TV deals following their promotions.
Parachuting from the opposite direction are relegated Fulham, Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City from the Premiership.
Fulham’s Tom Cairney has signed a new deal following a 31% shots on target for the midfielder.
Karlan Grant is a promising young English striker looking to lead Huddersfield’s attack.
Four goals and 63% shots on target – hopefully he can build on these stats in the Championship.
Cardiff keep faith with their charismatic Manager Neil Warnock as the first Welsh derby in five years is scheduled for the 26th October, against Swansea.
Will Cardiff’s struggling attack consisting of Victor Camarasa (5 Goals/ 4 Assist) and Bobby De Cordova-Reid (5 Goals / 2 Assists) have an impact?

Queen’s Park Rangers
QPR, had a tough season losing 12 games out of 18 in the final run of the 2018/2019 season.
This form saw the sacking of former England Manger, Steve McClaren, and then John Eustace in quick succession.
In a recent interview new Manager, Mark Warburton, stated: ‘’Every game – week in, week out – will demand a lot of you and will challenge you. We have to be prepared…we have to make sure that we are consistent”.
Consistency…. that magic word which every club strives for.
Warburton is currently trying to bring in reinforcements before August 3rd 2019, when the team will travel to Stoke City for the opening game of the season
SIGNED so FAR:
GK – Liam Kelly – Glasgow Rangers
LB – Lee Wallace – Glasgow Rangers
CB – Yoann Barbet – out-of-contract
