Alvaro Morata has been ruled out of Chelsea’s trip to Huddersfield on Tuesday. The @FPLGeneral looks at five possible replacements for the Spaniard in your fantasy football team.
Harry Kane (Spurs)
The Morata injury is the perfect excuse to pick Harry Kane. He scored his 11th & 12th goals of the campaign in the 5-1 mauling of Stoke at the weekend and he’ll be hoping for more of the same at home to Brighton on Wednesday night. He’s a must-have this week.
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
Kun is another player I included in my must-haves piece for GW17. He was rested for the Manchester derby on Sunday so we should see him back in the starting XI for the trip to Swansea. We all know what Aguero can do when he starts. He scored 122 goals in 6 Premier League seasons before this one. He’s got 9 in 11 appearances this season.
Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United)
The Belgian has scored just once in his last 9 Premier League matches but his fixtures take a turn for the better now and I’d expect to see him find some form over the festive period. Bournemouth at home on Wednesday night is the ideal opportunity for him to get back amongst the goals. Yes, he’s out of form, but he’s a proven Premier League goalscorer who will come good again soon.
Roberto Firmino (Liverpool)
Jurgen Klopp opted to leave Firmino on the bench for the Merseyside derby, bringing him on for the final 23 minutes. He should start against West Brom on Wednesday. He scored a brace in GW15 against Brighton to remind us of what he can do, but he’s been very inconsistent this season. Now might be a good time to put your faith in him though, Liverpool are scoring plenty of goals and have a nice run of fixtures over Christmas.
Charlie Austin (Southampton)
Will he stay fit? Will he get rotated? Can he trump the fixtures? There’s a lot of reasons to avoid Austin but those who do go for him could be rewarded. He’s got 4 goals in his last 3 starts which should mean he’s first choice now. The Saints have a tough December schedule with Chelsea, Spurs & Man United in their next five. Austin can score against the top sides though which he showed against Arsenal at the weekend. Let’s hope his form continues & he remains injury free. There’s something comforting about seeing Charlie Austin in your fantasy football team.
